Amastan Vey has built his fortune on order: clean ledgers, sealed contracts, obedient crews, and profitable voyages across the Strait of Tanis. Bound for the sunlit trade city of Yasha, he carries a cargo he would rather call lawful than cruel.
As Yasha prepares for the Festival of the Long Night, lanterns glow over a city of hunger, rumor, and uneasy faith. When the celebration collapses, Amastan is caught between a dying order, a spreading conspiracy, and the wife he promised to return to before the world began to burn.
To survive, he must cross dangerous waters, trust people the law condemns, and choose where he stands.
