Ninth Temple: Oracle Priestess
I left the Bone Plane with eight Blessings.
The ninth pulls forward, and Priala warned me the Oracle does not answer. It questions.
Daisy walked us four days west-northwest from Barrowmere into the foothills, to a hilltop scriptorium town she had served as a copyist three lifetimes ago. Veilcross. Stone buildings with tall narrow windows clustered around a central square. The reading hall on the hilltop. The cellar vault beneath, where a transfer circle of woven lines sat carved into the foundation stone. The Oracle Plane on the other side of it: a vast translucent stone plateau under a sky of woven light-threads in pale gold, silver, and soft blue, weaving and reweaving in slow constant motion. A cosmic loom working overhead. Sound directed precisely where aimed, with no echo and no return.
Shira read the stones showing which futures ran hot. Maren read currents of time branching like undecided streams. Aera read the sky-threads as impending weather. Dalla identified the native mineral threaded through the translucent stone like iron through ore. Senne felt a presence expanding deep below. Itheira read transparency rather than darkness. Lirien found her voice could not be made to echo. Mereth read the memory of every thread ever woven. And the Oracle priestess answered my questions a heartbeat before I finished asking them.
I’m a stonemason. I read load paths in stone, and now I had to read them in time. The Oracle itself does not answer. It questions.
To take this Temple back and lift the ninth thread of Priala’s sealing, I’m going to weave fire, water, wind, iron, growth, shadow, sound, and bone with prophecy itself in a Trial that demands I see what’s coming and refuse to enact it. That I use everything I’ve learned about reading false foundations.
