Black rain eats through the streets, scavengers trade in mouthfuls, and clean water is guarded by guns, ledgers, and lies. Matt Maxworth survives by staying small: one canteen, one pistol, one radio, one more day. Then a broken signal cuts through the static with a voice he buried years ago: his mother’s.

To follow the signal, Matt must join Amara Vale, a deadly survivor from his past who has every reason to hate the Maxworth name. Together they descend into a Seattle of poisoned rain, smiling tyrants, hungry districts, and things waiting in the tunnels.
