SIX DANGEROUS LOVE AFFAIRS
God’s Word says that His love is the highest attribute given to mankind. It is greater than faith and hope. God’s unconditional, self-sacrificing, and crazy love is one of the nine “fruit of the Holy Spirit.” It is the very character of God, for God is love, and it takes God to love God. I love Him because He first loved me. God’s love is crazy, relentless, inescapable, and all-powerful. Have you ever wondered if we’re missing it?
DIFFERENT LOVE AFFAIRS:
There are many varied distinctions in the use of this great word. Many so-called “love affairs” are no more than “lust affairs.” Some “love affairs are among our family members. Oh, the affection and devotion of a mother’s love. Then there is the strength and feelings of a father’s love. There is also the tenderness and beauty of our companion’s love. But the most incredible love known to man is the Savior’s crazy, unmerited, and undeserved LOVE. Oh, how marvelous, Oh, how wonderful is my Savior’s love for me.
OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S LOVE:
What is our typical response to God’s crazy love? We mess it up with our dysfunctional emotions. We all know something’s wrong with our feeble attempt to love God. We are just not sure what it is or how to fix it. Our misplaced affection can be very dangerous to God’s crazy, unconditional, love. I want to bring you face to face with SIX DANGEROUS LOVE AFFAIRS. The six dangerous love affairs should be considered “FORBIDDEN LOVE.”
THE CALL TO A PASSIONATE LOVE RELATIONSHIP:
It takes God to love God. But if we are not careful and guard our hearts, we can exchange our love for God for one or more of the dangerous loves exposed in God’s Word. Are you thirsty and hungry for an authentic faith that satisfies the soul? The Father is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. The answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder doing the same thing. The answer is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It is receiving the love of God in fullness and battling the six enemies that would corrupt it. Once you encounter the Father’s love in its purity, you will never be the same. But it does not come without a spiritual battle against the enemies of God’s very character, for God is love.
