One of the four Golden Age \u2018Queens of Crime\u2019, Dorothy L. Sayers is best known as the creator of Lord Peter Wimsey. Included here are dramatisations of three of her classic Wimsey novels, with full casts including\u00a0Gary Bond, Simon Russell Beale, John Cater, William Eedle<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Emma Fielding<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Whose Body?<\/i><\/b>, the aristocratic sleuth probes the mystery of a dead body in a bath, while\u00a0The Nine Tailors<\/i><\/b>\u00a0sees him investigating a mystery involving a group of bellringers and an emerald necklace. And in\u00a0Strong Poison<\/i><\/b>, he must prove the innocence of the woman he loves \u2013 before she is hanged for a crime she did not commit\u2026<\/p>\n

Also featured are a trio of stories featuring her other detective, travelling wine salesman Montague Egg, all read by\u00a0Geoffrey Beevers<\/b>. In\u00a0The Poisoned Dow \u201908<\/i><\/b>,\u00a0<\/i>Monty discovers a customer has been poisoned by a bottle of the eponymous vintage.\u00a0Murder in the Morning<\/i><\/b>\u00a0sees him going out of his way to talk to a prospective client, only to find the man lying dead on the kitchen floor. In\u00a0Sleuths on the Scent<\/i><\/b>, Monty is holed up in a pub when a radio description of a wanted murder suspect seems to fit almost anyone in that room\u2026<\/p>\n

The Man Who Knew How\u00a0<\/i><\/b>is a sinister short story about two strangers who meet on a train, read by\u00a0Richard Hurndall<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Concluding the collection are two illuminating programmes about on Dorothy L. Sayers herself.\u00a0Cursed with Both Head and Heart\u00a0<\/i><\/b>presents a selection of the author\u2019s letters, read by\u00a0Sheila Mitchell<\/b>. In\u00a0Great Lives,\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Stella Rimington tells Matthew Parris why she finds the paradoxes and contradictions in Sayers\u2019 life so fascinating.<\/p>\n
