The Art of Living (or Enchiridion) by Epictetus.<\/p>\n

Under the rule of the Roman Empire, the slave Epictetus (\u201cacquired\u201d, \u201cbought\u201d, in Greek) not only sought his freedom, but also devoted his life to one of the most important schools of philosophy: Stoicism.<\/p>\n

The Art of Living(or Enchiridion, \u201csmall portable manual\u201d) is the result of his endeavor to leave an imperishable guide. His brief reflections are meant to help face the storms of life with firmness and wisdom, employing inner strength and peace of mind. \u201cNo person is free unless he is master of himself,\u201d says Epictetus, perhaps the freest slave of all time.<\/p>\n

This special edition, which brings a careful revision of the text and an adaptation to modern language, seeks to bring the teachings of this great philosopher to contemporary listeners.<\/p>\n
